Destiny and I had a blast yesterday in San Luis Obispo’s lovely Misson Plaza at the 35th annual Day with Creative Women. The location is a delight. We were under a shady arbor above the creek, facing the old Mission, built in 1772, right below the bells that get rung every hour and whenever a wedding occurs — which was twice yesterday!

This was the 35th year that San Luis Obispo’s energetic Women’s Community Center crew, headed by Robin Rinzler, put on the arts, crafts, and women’s festival, but the first year that Sassy Feet! had a booth. One of the things we did in preparation was to paint and embellish purses that we could sell along with our paint, glitter, embellishments, and other supplies. Here’s a shot of one side of the booth.

And here are closeups of a few of the revamped purses we made for the event. These first two are by Destiny. On the left is Tyger, Tyger; the one on the right is called Burlesque.

Our local public-radio station, KCBX-FM, interviewed me about Sassy Feet! during the run-up to the festival. I talked with “Ears on Art” co-host Crissa Hewitt about how I do what I do and why I do it. You can listen to the August 5 interview online by clicking this link and choosing the program for that date. My section starts at 15 minutes and 45 seconds into the half-hour show, if you’d prefer to fast-forward to that point.

Here are a couple of the purses I did. Left is Asian Croc. Right is a remake of a vintage leather purse, called Big Night Out.Asian croc at 72dpi Big Night Out after 72 dpi
