D monogramAs a human being who just happened to arrive on this Earth in the early 80s, who was molded by the grunge and alternative rock of the ’90s, and being a huge fan of both Nirvana and Foo Fighters, I squealed out loud when Margot shared with me an email Q & A she had done with Sandy in Pennsylvania.

Sandy was hoping to accomplish an out-of-the-box project using Neopaque paints and needed advice. She wanted to paint a design on an all-black tire cover for her husband, and wondered if it would work with our paints, and how much paint she would need to do it.

What does this have to do with Nirvana or the Foo Fighters, you ask? Well, let me show you…

For those who may not know, that is the logo for the rock band Foo Fighters. Foo Fighters front man, Dave Grohl, was the drummer for grunge rock legend Nirvana.  To create this, Sandy first prepped the entire tire cover by rubbing it lightly with 100% acetone. Then she mixed a little bit of Neopaque Black into Pearl White to make the perfect shade of gray. She used Pearl White to outline everything. After the paint was dry, she sealed it all with Sassy Feet! Sealer, for an extra layer of protection.

When she sent us this picture she wrote, “My husband and I are very pleased with the results!  So much so, he’s afraid to put it on his SUV for fear of someone stealing it! Thanks for your help again.”

This is also the coolest thing anyone has ever painted on a tire cover, ever, in my humble opinion. Now, if you’ve never seen or heard Foo Fighters….

P.S. Dave Grohl is the singer.
